Introduction
This Lord’s Day we welcome Dr. Gerald Priest as our guest speaker. He the retired professor of homiletics (preaching) and church history at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. He will deliver a message based on the life of Daniel contained in Daniel chapters 1, 6, and 9.
PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
Prelude
Call to Worship: Psalm 19:7-11
Invocation
Hymn Insert Give Praise to God
Note: The Lord God works his will and accomplishes his purposes according to his own plan for his own glory. Even though we do not and cannot comprehend his ways, we know that things good and true come only from God. Therefore, we sing “give praise to God alone.”
PROCLAMATION
Hymn 610 How Firm a Foundation
Notes: God has given an authoritative record in the written word. “How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in his excellent Word!” Those determined to uphold and proclaim God’s Word will experience “fiery trials” and yet need not be dismayed. We rest assured with faith in the God who says of those who depend on Jesus:
“That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.”
Scripture Reading Daniel 6:25-27 Hebrews 11:1-2, 32-33
Pastoral Prayer
Hymn 670 Behold the Throne of Grace!
Note: John Newton reminds us that we belong to a God “who loves to answer prayer.” He calls us and we respond,
“Since ’tis the Lord’s command,
Our mouth we’ll open wide:
Lord, open Thou Thy bount’ous hand,
That we may be supplied.”
Message: God Honors Those Who Honor Him
Daniel 1, 6, 9

RESPONSE
Hymn 403 I’m Not Ashamed
Note: With the lyrics of Isaac Watts, we declare the Christian’s appropriate resolve:
I’m not ashamed to own my Lord,
Or to defend His cause;
Maintain the honor of His Word,
The glory of His cross.
Prayer Response: Eric Hicks, Jr.
Benediction: John Miles
