Southeast Michigan Men’s Retreat, May 17-18, 2019

Men, the time has arrived to make plans for this year’s retreat!  As always, there will be plenty of fun, food, fellowship, and (above all) a transforming challenge from the Word of God.

Our guest speaker is Ryan Martin, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Granite Falls, MN.

Pastor Martin attended Northland Baptist Bible College where he completed a bachelor’s degree in sacred music. He also received the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy (historical theology) degrees from Central Baptist Theological Seminary. His dissertation was on the role of affections and passions in the theology of Jonathan Edwards. Pastor Martin is the author of Understanding Affections in the Theology of Jonathan Edwards: The High Exercises of Divine Love (T&T Clark, 2018). He contributed to the Conservative Christian Declaration (2014) and the Jonathan Edwards Encyclopedia (2017), and he is the associate editor of the hymnal Hymns to the Living God

He will deliver a timely series of messages for men on a theme from his area of expertise:

A Look at Gracious Affections through 1 Corinthians and the Writings of Jonathan Edwards

  • The Nature and Necessity of Gracious Affections (1 Corinthians 16:21-24)
  • Gracious Affections in the Church (1 Corinthians 16:15-20)
  • Gracious Affections in All We Do (1 Corinthians 16:14)

About Our Annual Men’s Retreat

Each May Huron Baptist Church hosts a golf outing and Men’s Retreat In Hillsdale, Michigan. The retreat takes place at Michindoh Camp and Conference Center. We enjoy two days of fellowship with men from several other churches that share our faith and practices. The focus of our retreat is a series of timely messages designed to equip men to follow Christ and lead their families. We invite a guest speaker each year who has demonstrated faithfulness in ministry and excellence in communicating the truth of God’s word.
